Children’s Hospital & Medical Center
A campaign communicating pediatric expertise
Children are not tiny adults.
You can’t cut the sleeves off a grown person’s shirt and expect it to fit a three-year-old. And you can’t snap an adult-sized pill in half and expect a sick three-year-old to swallow it – or for it to make them well.
The caregivers at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha are specialists when it comes to children. They don’t just downsize adult care. They know how to right-size every treatment, procedure and medicine so all children might have a better chance to live.
There are distinct advantages to bringing injured or ill children to a pediatric medical facility – instead of a general care hospital that mostly treats adults. The problem is that most parents and families don’t know that.
This was a problem that required education.
That is why Children’s turned to us when they needed a campaign that would educate the public about the best place in the region for proper pediatric care. Their need led to the “We Know Children” education campaign.
The resulting multimedia campaign informed the community about the many critical ways that children’s hospitals in general, and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in particular, deliver pediatric medical care designed especially to fulfill the needs of children, from the tiniest of newborns through adolescence.
Together we determined a new, interactive website, advertisements and radio spots would help educate the general public. Also we built presentations and direct mailings that targeted business leaders and government officials on eight key topics:
